Artificial Life Model of Dengue Host-Vector Disease Propagation

چکیده
The paper presents an agent based model of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which considers mosquito population dynamics and a speci c population control strategy, as well the dengue propagation in mosquito (vector) and human (host) populations. More speci cally, this study concerns the impact that the RIDL strategy (Release of Insects carrying a Dominant Lethal gene) has on the infection period among humans. The agents model the main aspects of the mosquito's ecology and behavior, while the environmental components are implemented as a layer of dynamic elements obeying to physical laws. The main objective of this approach is to provide realistic simulations of insect biologic control strategies, namely RIDL. Model veri cation was performed through examination of simulation parameters variation and qualitative assessment with existing models and simulations. The LAIS simulator was a valuable tool in this investigation, allowing e cient agent based modeling (ABM) and simulation deployment and analysis.

Characterization of dengue virus in Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus spp. of mosquitoes: A study in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan
Dengue is a vector-borne disease caused by dengue virus. According to the recent report of CDC that one-third population of the world are at high risk with Dengue fever. The prevalence of the dengue hemorrhagic fever was found more in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. Aedes mosquitoes was reported as the main cause of transmission of dengue virus. So the current study was planned ...
متن کاملOn the dynamics of dengue epidemics from large-scale information.
A model for the spatial and temporal dynamics of dengue fever is proposed in this article. The vector population dynamics is derived from a diffusion equation that is based on environmental parameters at the scale of a remote-sensing image. Vectors and hosts populations are then classically divided into compartments corresponding to their respective disease status. The transmission processes be...
متن کاملDynamic Epidemiological Models for Dengue Transmission: A Systematic Review of Structural Approaches
Dengue is a vector-borne disease recognized as the major arbovirose with four immunologically distant dengue serotypes coexisting in many endemic areas. Several mathematical models have been developed to understand the transmission dynamics of dengue, including the role of cross-reactive antibodies for the four different dengue serotypes. We aimed to review deterministic models of dengue transm...
متن کاملCompetitive exclusion in a vector-host model for the dengue fever.
We study a system of differential equations that models the population dynamics of an SIR vector transmitted disease with two pathogen strains. This model arose from our study of the population dynamics of dengue fever. The dengue virus presents four serotypes each induces host immunity but only certain degree of cross-immunity to heterologous serotypes. Our model has been constructed to study ...
متن کاملComparing vector-host and SIR models for dengue transmission.
Various simple mathematical models have been used to investigate dengue transmission. Some of these models explicitly model the mosquito population, while others model the mosquitoes implicitly in the transmission term. We study the impact of modeling assumptions on the dynamics of dengue in Thailand by fitting dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) data to simple vector-host and SIR models using Bayes...
